Rest, Relaxation and Sleep

Our bodies and our minds need sleep and rest.

Rest is what we need to let our stress subside. No matter when you rest it will calms your body and mind.

There are several ways that we can reduce our stress level and improve our sleep habits. Just like love and marriage, relaxation and sleep go hand in hand; you cannot have one without the other. That is why it is important to address and change the unwanted stressors in our lives, or at least modify them.

Participating in fun activities in our leisure time compensates for unpleasant stress we experience at work, or in other areas of our lives. A good way of getting rest and reducing long-term stress is to take up an enjoyable hobby and/or sport. Some noncompetitive sports or hobbies, such as, reading, seeing a movie or socializing with friends can help reduce stress. Vacations are also a good outlet for relaxation.

On average, people need eight hours of sleep a night. If you regularly sleep for less than this, then the chances are that your levels of concentration and effectiveness will go down, although the amount of sleep tends to change as we get older. As your energy declines, you become less proactive, reducing your control over certain events. Then when you find yourself in a difficult situation it can be more stressful and harder to control. It is essential that you get enough sleep.
 
Once you do get a proper amount of sleep you will be surprised at how sharp and energetic you feel. By managing your sleep and by finding productive ways to reduce your stress, you will discover that your overall mental and physical health will benefit.
